 The Ocilla-Irwin Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting event Friday, July 15 for Pam and Doug Justice, owners and operators of Kid’s Academy Daycare, LLC, located at 172 Fitzgerald Hwy. in Ocilla. The Justices officially opened their new business July 1 and Pam serves as director.
“We read a Bible story every day, we sing songs about Jesus and have blessings for the food,” Pam said of the Christian-based program which serves children ages 6 weeks to 11 years old. Hours of operation are 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. |

Jimmy Carver, middle, owner of Cash for Gold, cuts the ribbon for his business Friday, June 17. The Ocilla-Irwin Chamber of Commerce presented the ribbon cutting for the new business, which is located on Fourth Street in Downtown Ocilla, “Since I’ve come to Ocilla, GA, I’ve been surprised at what you’ve done for me” said Carver, a native of Broxton. “I appreciate what you’ve done for me.” Although the business, as you would expect, gives cash for gold, it also buys sells and trades other precious metals, games, electronics and other items.

The Ocilla-Irwin Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for the grand opening of Gina’s Salon on Friday, April 29.
The new Ocilla business, located at 111 South Beech Street, is owned and operated by Gina Collins and offers a complete array of cosmetology services including color, cuts, stylings, updos for special events, acrylic and gel nails, manicures, pedicures and waxing. “We can do it all,” Collins said, “anyting to do with skin, hair and nails.” |

A ground-breaking ceremony was held Thursday, April 21 for the South Central Primary Care Center’s administrative headquarters, behind the Irwin County Health Department on West Fourth Street in Ocilla.
The Federally qualified health center serves Irwin, Coffee and Atkinson counties by providing primary health care services at a reduced rate to individuals without health insurance. The center sees patients regardless of their ability to pay. |
