Chamber ChatterFriday night, June 17th, I had the privilege of being invited to a “Meet & Greet” sponsored by the Ocilla Housing Authority, under the leadership of Pam Payne.  The purpose of this was to thank local officials, Board members and  friends for their support.  The only business conducted was to present a plaque to Mayor Lamar Royal for his continued support of the Housing Authority.

The dinner was held at the Irwin EMC Community room and was decorated beautifully.  White linen tablecloths, china, crystal and centerpieces.  The food consisted of a variety of fruits, salads, desserts, peach tea and lemonade.  Pam explained that all this was done by residents that live there.  A group of ladies were having trouble finding jobs so Pam said “let’s create jobs” and thus, Anytime Caterers was formed.  She had a chef from Atlanta come and train these ladies in all areas of catering.  They were taught the health issues, preparation, serving and also how to have the food set up.  Each of the ladies had on uniforms and did  a great job.  You could tell how proud they were of their accomplishments.
