About

 What’s  happening at ICH?

Emergency Department:

  • We are open 24hrs a day 7 days a week, staffed with Providers and Nurses that are trained to provide care for any emergency you may have
  • Our staffed are all BLS (cpr), ACLS (advanced cardiac life support), PALS (pediatrics advanced life support) and all will be TNCC (trauma nurse core course) certified by Dec 2024
  • We are a fully functioning Emergency Department
  • We have lower wait times than most surrounding Emergency Rooms
  • If your emergency requires a higher level of care, our staff are trained to stabilize your condition and transfer you to a facility with specialist trained to manage your condition (cardiology, neurology, pulmonology, nephrology, orthopedics)
  • We have transfer agreements with Dorminy Medical Center, Tift Regional Medical Center, South Georgia Medical Center, Coffee Regional and Navicent in Macon
  • Examples of Emergent situations may include but are not limited to: Heart Attack, Stroke, COPD Exacerbations, Hyperglycemia, Hypoglycemia, CHF, Heart Arrythmias, Asthma Attacks, Lacerations, Cardiac Arrest, Respiratory Arrest/Failure
  • We are prepared to take care of anything from an ingrown toenail to “Code Blue”

Observation Stays:

  • We have a fully renovated Observation Department for those who need a little extra care but doesn’t require being in the Emergency Room.
  • As an REH, we no longer do “inpatient” admissions, however we provide “observation” admissions. Which means we do keep patients that need to stay in the hospital 24HRS (max of 72HRS) and should your condition not improve within 72HRS we will transfer you to the appropriate facility with the specialist your condition requires
  • We do not provide Labor and Delivery services anymore, however, should you or your loved one be expecting and can’t make it to their primary OB/GYN, our providers are trained in the ER for “spontaneous deliveries”, after stabilized mother and baby will then be transferred to the facility in which their OB/GYN has privileges

Laboratory:

  • Lab still functions as it did previously, if your provider has ordered “Blood Work” we are your vampires!
  • Our outpatient registration department and lab employees are open and ready for you at 7am. So those fasting labs can be completed early so it does not interfere with anyone’s morning coffee or BACON! We understand you are the most hungry and thirsty when you CAN’T HAVE ANYTHING
  • Our lab employees are long term employees, our phlebotomist has been drawing blood since 1978!

Radiology:

  • XRAY dept also functions as it did previously with a few additional new services. Our Radiology department offers-traditional x-rays, CT scans, Sonograms/Ultrasounds, Bone Density Scans (new), Echocardiograms (new) and a Brand new, 3D, state of the art Mammography with Tomo machine.
  • We welcome Dr Tehrani (cardiologist) to staff for ECHO readings
  • Our Mammography machine is top of the line! Just to clarify what “Mammo with Tomo” means, this machine takes “pictures” of the entire breast and allows the radiologist to view “slices” of the breast tissue from top to bottom and side to side to better visualize the smallest abnormality. Honestly as of today, you can’t get better technology than that!

Surgical Services:

  • The operating room is still up and running, we are working on recruiting new physicians for surgical services, but as of now we have the Howards Center and Dr Amin doing outpatient GYN procedures
  • Dr Jonnalagadda (GI) does colonoscopies and EGDs conveniently on Saturdays
  • Dr Livermore (ENT) is now on staff and will be doing procedures here as well (Tonsil and Adenoids, Sinus Surgery, Tubes placed in ears, Inspire therapy-which is implants for obstructive sleep apnea) for pediatrics and adults

Respiratory:

  • Our respiratory department services include EKG’s, PFT’s (pulmonary function test), ABG’s (arterial blood gases), Nebulizer treatments, 48HR halter monitors, and in house sleep studies
